The Decline of Kanye West

Kanye West is a famous American rapper, billionaire and brand owner. At one point he was dominating headlines for his musical talents and his songs were going viral. Recently the image has been very different. How did Kayne West go from billionaire to millionaire, from brand deals upon brand deals, to his name being blacklisted, him getting kicked out of his own brand, and the break down of his high profile relationship with Kim Kardashian?

Kanye Omari West (now known as Ye) was born in Atlanta Georgia USA. He grew up in a low middle class family, without a father and spent most of his life incredibly dependant on his mother (Donda West). This meant that he built an unbreakable and unparalleled bond with his mother. His love/respect for his mother is very much evident is his work/interviews. When David Letterman interviewed Kanye in 2019 he made the following post interview statement “He would have loved to see how his mother would have interacted with his children.” We also see him displaying another level of affection towards his mother in his latest album, which was released on 29 August 2021.

So why exactly is his reputation declining rapidly?

One reason for this decline is West's increasingly erratic and controversial behaviour. He has made a series of highly publicised and often controversial statements, including expressing support for Ex-President Donald Trump and making statements that have been criticised as insensitive or offensive. This has led to a backlash from fans and the public, as well as negative coverage in the media.

Another reason for West's decline is the perceived deterioration in the quality of his music. Some critics and fans have said that his recent albums have not lived up to the high standards of his earlier work, and that his production has become less innovative and more formulaic. Additionally, West has struggled with personal issues, such as his mental health, which has led to his erratic behaviour, public meltdowns and an absence from the public eye.

It is important to note that the public perception of a public figure is subject to change and it's possible that West could make a comeback or reinvent himself in the future.

It’s difficult to make a general statement about how people feel about Kanye West, as opinions can vary widely. Some people may continue to sympathise with him and enjoy his music. Others may have lost sympathy for him due to his controversial statements /actions.
